Restoring The Sacred . . . Why The Manner Of Our Reception Of Holy Communion Really Matters — Part 1

In our Lord’s encounter with the woman at the well as related in the Gospel of St. John, He tells her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that

‘Hey, So What? That’s Old News!’

‘Hey, So What? That’s Old News!’

That was the slogan of Bill Clinton’s ace defender James Carville when one after another of the rapist’s crimes came across the screen.

It worked, and the next generation of Democrats has now embraced the practice, with a different tone: instead of focusing on denial, it relies on the Memory Hole.

“Joe Biden? Who’s he?”

The tactic has worked marvelously well since “Catholic Joe” left office 15 months ago. The magical component — alas, hardly surprising these days — is the wholesale compliance of the Republican Party.

Instead of warning American voters about the names that are going to be on the ballot — “Democrat” and “Republican” — in November, conservatives are arguing among themselves. Whether it is Iran, or Israel, or Epstein, or Dispensationalism, we rage on.

Admittedly, Virginia’s bishops have been silent about the danger posed by the new, pro-abortion Democrat governor’s proposal to redistrict the state, thus adding four new Democrat districts, leaving only one for the Republicans out of 11.

Okay, the bishops are silent, but where are the laity? County registrars have been forbidden to put up a map of the proposed new district because it is virtually all blue.

And the text of the resolution that voters will see in the voting booth is right out of Big Brother’s Ministry of Truth:

“Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections?”

“Fairness” indeed. The Virginia Republican Party, which conducted a pathetic pantomime of a campaign last November, has not yet resuscitated the cadaver.

Unfortunately, I’ve seen this movie before.

Back 50 years ago, when I lived in the Idaho panhandle, I saw signs that read, “Don’t Californicate Oregon.” At the time, Oregonians feared that the virus that had infected California threatened the Beaver State.

Unfortunately, in the half-century since, California is rigor mortis writ large, and Oregon is in its death throes. A majority of counties in both states want to become part of Idaho or Nevada, which will never happen peacefully, if at all: the dying blue city oligarchs love their power too much.

Where Is The Laity?

Our bishops didn’t raise their voices to condemn the crimes of Joe Biden. He pardoned his entire family. His son “Hunter” Biden, most specifically, is now absolved of crimes that go back to 2014.

Yawn.

And today, Biden’s destructive policies attacking the common good as well as “The Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God” are all but forgotten.

Unfortunately, many among the laity have become so accustomed to hearing the bishops blather about politics that we have avoided political issues ourselves. It’s tiresome. We have lives beyond politics, which is the virtue of truly limited government. That our bishops seldom go there is their fault.

But it is our job to fulfill the command of our predecessors, who warned us that “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

Joe Biden was an evil man. Yet his criminal legacy remains unchallenged, even though that is the strongest weapon in our arsenal: “Defeat the Joe Biden Democrats!”

Why are we doing nothing?

Still Chasing The Bad Guys

“Newly released CIA documents reveal that the Biden regime identified ‘motherhood’ and ‘homemaking’ as indicators of ‘white racially and ethnically motivated violent extremism (REMVE)’,” Debra Heine reports.

“The Trump administration recently retracted an October 2021 intelligence assessment, titled ‘Women Advancing White Racially and Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremist Radicalization and Recruitment,’ that branded average women as domestic terrorists.”

Unbelievable.

“America First Legal (AFL), a conservative nonprofit law firm, shared the now-retracted assessment on X, saying it reveals ‘top-to-bottom bias at Biden’s CIA’.”

Yes, “Catholic Joe” was anti-family, anti-Catholic, and anti-American. I had to work with him — more accurately, against him — on Capitol Hill during the 1980s, on both foreign policy and judicial issues. So it’s no surprise that his autopen let the Deep State run wild while he stumbled in stupor for years on end.

And it wasn’t just the CIA. Joe’s arrogant FBI joined forces with radical anti-Catholics to justify spying on Catholic chapels in Virginia, one of them just ten minutes away from our house.

“The conservative legal group Judicial Watch is continuing to push for more transparency around a memo targeting traditionalist Catholics, which was issued in early 2023 by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Richmond field office,” EWTN News reports, and it’s about time that the ugly truth about this crime was made public.

“The memo detailed an investigation into a purported connection between ‘radical traditionalist’ Catholics and ‘the far-right white nationalist movement.’ It recommended ‘trip wire or source development’ in Catholic parishes that offer the Traditional Latin Mass and ‘radical traditionalist’ Catholic communities online,” the report continues. The insouciant laziness of that concocted “intelligence” is as demeaning as it is outrageous.

Just one more Biden crime right here in Virginia that is getting no attention.

The Bell Tolls Anew

“The Original Population Bomber Dies, Reducing the Surplus Population.”

Thus begins Steven Mosher, president of the Population Research Institute, regarding Paul Ehrlich, who died earlier this month.

“In 1968, a young Stanford University biologist . . . published his very first book. He called it The Population Bomb,” Mosher writes. “And, according to him, this ‘bomb’ in the form of too many babies had already gone off.

“There was nothing that humanity could do now but wait for the inevitable human die-back.

“His very first sentence foretold this coming doom. ‘The battle to feed all of humanity is over,’ he wrote. ‘In the 1970s the world will undergo famines — hundreds of millions of people will starve to death in spite of any crash programs embarked upon now.’

“The situation was simply hopeless, he opined. ‘Too many people’ were, in his words, chasing ‘too little food.’

“Ehrlich laid out a series of ‘scenarios’ for this coming population collapse, each one more dire than the last.

“The most optimistic of his ‘scenarios’ involved the creation of a world government (!) that would immediately impose a harsh regimen of population control and resource conservation around the world. The goal would be to reduce the number of people on the planet by three-quarters — from the then 6 billion down to 1.5 billion or so.”

Sound familiar? Always wrong, the Left always survives — and Mosher is living proof.

In fact, Stanford University never fired this raving lunatic, but in 1980 they tossed Mosher, a promising young scholar, overboard when he revealed that Communist China was doing Ehrlich’s work for him with a program that killed some 30 or 40 million Chinese babies through forced abortions before it ended some years ago.

Millions of children were never conceived, and millions more were aborted under the banner of Ehrlich’s deadly warning.

Also crossing the river in March was Kermit Gosnell, the “Dr. Mengele” who killed countless babies when they were born after botched abortions. Gosnell’s case proves that the death penalty works: to dodge it, Gosnell agreed to a plea deal for life without parole, thus relieving the gruesome prospect that his defense lawyers, as vile as he was, would turn his trial into a showcase of satanic evil.

May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
