Hail Mary, Lock And Load…

August 29, 2022 Frontpage Comments Off on Hail Mary, Lock And Load…

By DEACON MIKE MANNO Okay, by now everyone has heard about The Atlantic’s Daniel Panneton’s not-so ridiculous claim that “radical-traditional” Catholics — who I guess I would include myself in that — see the rosary as some type of secular weapon to fight the deadly beast.Well, sorry to upset Mr. Panneton’s big discovery, but the simple fact is that it is not only a weapon, it is the singularly most powerful weapon in the Catholic arsenal against the forces of Hell. The problem with Mr. Panneton’s thesis is not that he sees the rosary as a weapon, which it is, but that he misinterprets what the Church means by that reference and all references to spiritual battle. Here is how he…Continue Reading

Who’s Next In Washington?

August 28, 2022 Frontpage Comments Off on Who’s Next In Washington?

By BARBARA SIMPSON There is nowhere you can go these days without getting immersed in politics — which is, I guess, the nature of things. The biggest speculation has to do with the presidency — will Joe Biden run again? — will Donald Trump run again? If not them, who?Neither man has given an answer for certain, though there are hints from both political parties. It is an issue that keeps the pollsters busy and for the state of California, that is a way of life. The latest poll to get big headlines was released the past week and was conducted in California by the U.C. Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies. It was conducted August 9-15, among 9,254 registered voters, in…Continue Reading

Brother Bishops

August 27, 2022 Frontpage Comments Off on Brother Bishops

By CHRISTOPHER MANION For several weeks, Nicaragua’s Communist government has mounted an attack on Matagalpa Bishop Rolando Alvarez, accusing him of “organizing violent groups” and inciting them “to carry out acts of hate against the population.” On August 19, Sandinista police entered the episcopal compound and kidnapped Bishop Alvarez and jailed several of his priests.“It’s a steadily worsening situation,” reports Inés San Martín, “that has seen priests thrown in prison, religious processions canceled by the government, and Catholics forbidden to enter their own churches. Police have also forcibly entered and raided parishes, prevented parishioners from receiving the Eucharist inside the church and besieged other priests in their churches.”The flagrant seizing of Bishop Alvarez is the latest in a series of…Continue Reading

Proving The Inspiration Of Scripture

August 26, 2022 Frontpage Comments Off on Proving The Inspiration Of Scripture

By JOE SIXPACK This week we’re going to talk about proving the inspiration of Scripture. We’re making this our first apologetics topic, followed by proving the existence of God next week, because I feel like this is the logical progression of topics. After next week’s installment, we can do anything we want, but you’ll be able to work with the Bible with confidence once you can prove it’s inspired. Some people say the reason they believe the Bible is inspired is because it’s “inspirational.” The problem with this is that the Bible is not always inspirational. Some of it is as dry and uninspiring as military statistics. Indeed, parts of it are merely military statistics! So claiming the Bible is inspired…Continue Reading

Whatever Happened To “The Dog Days Of August”?

August 25, 2022 Frontpage Comments Off on Whatever Happened To “The Dog Days Of August”?

By CHRISTOPHER MANION These days, Joe Biden’s disastrous collapse in Afghanistan a year ago is already ancient history. After all, what else is new? The United States has lost every war it’s been in since the last time Congress actually passed a Declaration of War in 1942.But wait, what about the FBI raid on Donald Trump’s Florida home last week? Is that “history”?Well, that belongs in a different category. Unlike freedom, war, prosperity, and peace, the topic of “Trump!!!” is timeless. If it doesn’t dominate the media’s toxic airwaves today, the sun will refuse to rise tomorrow. So brace yourselves for more “Trump!!!” Our beloved Alphas must always have a steady supply of Soma to feed the Deltas and Epsilons in…Continue Reading

The Collapse Of A Nation

August 24, 2022 Frontpage Comments Off on The Collapse Of A Nation

By TOM TAKASH The recent unprecedented raid of President Trump’s home, Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla., one that rivals Gestapo and NKVD immoral acts, should not shock anyone. The Cold War now raging in our country has slowly been heating up for over a half century. Unfortunately, a complacent and materially satisfied American public has closed its national eyes to the conflict, refusing to confront serious moral and political questions for fear of losing its comfortable lifestyle. We’ve been “winners,” and few wanted to upset the status quo.The United States of America had survived the Civil War in spite of losing over 600,000 lives. It had weathered the First World War, the Second World War, the Korean Conflict, and continued…Continue Reading

Beacon Of Light… The Coming Of His Reign

August 23, 2022 Frontpage Comments Off on Beacon Of Light… The Coming Of His Reign

By FR. RICHARD D. BRETON JR. (Editor’s Note: Fr. Richard D. Breton Jr. is a priest of the Diocese of Norwich, Conn.) + + Last week I concluded our article by presenting the priestly prayer of Jesus. This prayer is considered the foundation, if you will, of understanding the Lord’s prayer. When Jesus prayed this prayer, He arranged it in such a way so that it would incorporate three important aspects of prayer. First, He prayed to God the Father. Even though Jesus was God, this prayer was necessary in order for Jesus to fulfill and experience His human nature. Jesus prays that He and the Father might be one. In doing so, Jesus establishes for us the example of…Continue Reading

Assisted Suicide Up North . . . And Religion And Transgenderism

August 22, 2022 Frontpage Comments Off on Assisted Suicide Up North . . . And Religion And Transgenderism

By DEACON MIKE MANNO Our friend Alex Schadenberg, executive director of the Canadian-based Euthanasia Prevention Coalition, has reported some alarming results from his country’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) law.In its newly released report for 2021, Health Canada reported more than 10,064 medically assisted deaths up from 7,603 the year before. The 2021 figure represented 3.3 percent of all deaths that year. Of those “at least 1,740 people died by euthanasia for loneliness and isolation,” it reported.“Many people with significant medical conditions also live with loneliness and isolation. Social isolation and loneliness require a compassionate caring community, not death by lethal injection,” Schadenberg said. One statistic he noted in the report was that only four percent of written requests for MAiD…Continue Reading

More Perks For Illegals

By BARBARA SIMPSON Talking about illegal aliens in this country is one of those subjects that is filled with emotion. People either are sympathetic to those people who get into this country illegally or they are furiously against them and want them gone, the sooner the better. The reality is that there are many millions of them here now, across all 50 states, and thousands more are getting in every day. Keep in mind that each one is literally an illegal alien — they just cross the border at will and try to melt into our population and disappear. The situation that the Border Patrol faces to enforce our border security is almost beyond comprehension, yet they deal with it all…Continue Reading

Scientific Criticism Of Bishop McElroy

August 20, 2022 Frontpage Comments Off on Scientific Criticism Of Bishop McElroy

By THOMAS P. SHEAHEN The name of Bishop Robert McElroy of San Diego has come back into the news, as he is to be elevated to the rank of cardinal in August. McElroy incurred considerable controversy in early 2020 when he made a statement implying that climate change was just as important as abortion. There ensued criticism from many quarters in the American hierarchy, but before long Covid-19 took away the spotlight. Two years later, that was forgotten — until his new promotion. In a speech on February 6, 2020, Bishop McElroy presented (in one section) a succinct and clear argument against abortion:“More than 750,000 unborn children are directly killed in the United States every year. At one time there was…Continue Reading
